We remember when the courage, perseverance, and dedication of all the Nigerians who have contributed to the growth and sustenance of democracy in our country.
Recalling the early political pioneers like Chief Anthony Enahoro, Obafemi Awolowo, Nnamdi Azikiwe, and many others who challenged the colonial government and fought for Nigeria's independence. They laid the foundation for democracy in Nigeria, and their legacies continue to inspire us today.
The sacrifice of the many Nigerians who stood up against military dictatorships, fought for freedom and justice, and paid the ultimate price. We honor the memories of MKO Abiola, Ken Saro Wiwa, Kudirat Abiola, Pa Alfred Rewane, and other patriots who lost their lives to ensure that democracy can thrive in Nigeria.
The visionary leaders who have served our nation since the start of the fourth republic, working tirelessly to move Nigeria forward, promote peace and stability and ensure that our democracy continues to grow.
To every Nigerian who has played a role, no matter how small, in ensuring that democracy continues to thrive in Nigeria, we say thank you. Your contribution has made a significant difference, and we will continue to build on the gains we have made so far to create a more prosperous, peaceful, and democratic Nigeria.
As we celebrate this day, let us renew our commitment to democracy, good governance, and the rule of law. It is upon these ideals that our nation is built, and it is what will continue to sustain us for generations to come.
*Happy democracy day, Nigeria!*
